1 By (Wa) the dawn (El'Faj'r) *,

2 S mraw waḍan!
2 and (Wa) ten (Äsh'r) nights (Layaalin) ,

4 S yiḍ, ma ilḥa!
4 and (Wa) the night (Ellai'li) when (Ithaa) it circulates (Yas'r) .

5 Day mačči dagi d tagallit i lfahem?
5 Is (Hal') there an oath (Qasamun) in (Fii) that (Thaalika) for one who possesses (Lithii) self-restraint (Hij'r) ?

6 Day ur twalaḍ ara amek Ixdem Mass ik, i Ɛad?
6 Have you not (Alam') considered (Tara) how (Kai'fa) your LORD (s) (Rabbu-ka) dealt (Faäla) with (Bi) Ad (7:65) (Ääd) ,

7 boulder (Irama) containing (Thaati) the pillars (El'Emaad) ,

8 ur teţwaxleq temtilt is, di tmura.
8 which (Ellatii) has no (Lam') likeness of it (Mith'lu-haa) shaped (Yukh'laq') in the lands (Fiil' Bilaad) ?

9 U Tamud, di teɣzut, i iɣzan tiẓṛa.
9 And (Wa) Thamud (27:45) (Thamuuda), those who (Ellathiina) pierced (Jaabu') rocks (Es'Sokh'ra) in (Bi) the valley (El'Waad) ?

10 Ferɛun, bu ibudiden.
10 And (Wa) Pharaoh (17:101) (Fir'äw'na), possessor (Thii) of the pyramids (stakes) (El'Aw'taad) ? -

11 Wid ijuṛen di tmurt.
11 The ones who (Ellathiina) transgressed (Togaw') in the lands (Fiil' Bilaad)

12 Degs ssugten lefsad
12 and (Fa) increased (Ak'tharu') the corruption (El'Fasaad) therein (Fiihaa) .
89:13

13 Iwwet iten Mass ik, s ujekwaḍ uɛaqeb.
13 So (Fa) your LORD (s) (Rabbu-ka) poured (Sobba) a scourge (Saw'to) of punishment (Äthaab) upon them (Alai'him’) .
89:14

14 Ih, Mass ik d Amɛassi.
14 Indeed (Inna), your LORD (s) (Rabba-ka) is (La) in observation (Bil' Mir'soad) .
89:15

15 Amdan ma Ijeṛṛeb it Mass is, Iɣat it, Iga yas ccan, ad yini: "d Mass iw iyi Iɛuzzen".
15 And (Fa) as for (Amma) the human being (El' Insaanu) whenever (Izaa Maa) his LORD (Rabbu-hu) tests him (Eb'talaa-hu) and thus (Fa) honours him (Ak'rama-hu) and (Wa) favours him (Na'ääma-hu), then (Fa) he says (Yaquulu), "My LORD (Rabbii) has honoured me (Ak'ramani) ."

16 Wanag, ma Ijeṛṛeb it, Iɣat it kan s lmizan, ad yini: "d Mass iw iyi Igelzen".
16 But (Wa Ammaa) when (Izaa Maa) HE tests him (Eb'talaa-hu) and then (Fa) limits (Qadara) his sustenance (Riz'qa-hu) for him (Älai'hi), then (Fa) he says (Yaquulu), "My LORD (Rabbii) has humiliated me (Ahaanani) ."

17 Xaṭi! Agujil, ur t teţɛuzzum!
17 Nay (Kallaa)! Rather (Bal) you do not (Laa) honour (Tuk'rimuuna) the orphan (107:2) (El'Yatiim) ,

18 Ur teţţemtebbatem ar umeɣbun, a t tecceččem!
18 nor (Walaa) do you urge on (Tahaadduuna Älaa) feeding (Toäämi) of the poor (107:3) (El'Mis'kiin) ,
89:19

19 Teţţeţţem lweṛt, tḥellqem!
19 and (Wa) you consume (Ta'kuluuna) inheritance (Etturaatha); consumption (Ak'lan) and gathering (Lammaa) ,
89:20

20 Tḥemlem ayla, tayri war tilas.
20 and (Wa) you love (Tuhibbuuna) wealth (El'Maala) with excess (great) (Jammaa) love (100:8) (Hubban) .

21 Xaṭi! Ma temsawi tmurt, yal amsawi,
21 Nay (Kallaa)! When (Ithaa) the earth (El'Ar'du) has been demolished (Dukkati); level (Dakkaan) by level (Dakkaa) ,

22 u Iusa d Mass ik, akked lmalayek, d idurra,
22 and (Wa) your LORD (s) (Rabbu-ka) comes (Jaa”a) together with (Wa) the Angels (El'Malaku); row (Soffaan) by row (Soffaa) ,
89:23

23 assen, a d ters Loahennama. Assen, a d ismekti umdan. Acu ar as d iawi usmekti?
23 and (Wa) brought forth (Ji'iia Bi) Hell (Jahannama), on that day (Yaw'maithi); the human being (El' Insaanu) will take heed (Yatathakkaru), on that day (Yaw'maithin), but (Wa) how (Annaa) will he have (Lahu) the remembrance (Eth'Zik'raa) ?

24 Ad yini: "a ssexḍ iw! A lemmer heggaɣ i tmeddurt iw"!
24 He will say (Yaquulu), "O (Yaa)! If only I (Lai'tanii) had sent forth (Qaddam'tu) for (Li) my life (Hayaatii) ."
89:25

25 Aɛaqeb is, assen, ur t isɛadda yiwen.
25 But (Fa) on that day (Yaw'maizin), none (Laa Ahadu) will be punished (Yuäthzibu) as his punishment (Äthaaba-hu) ,
89:26

26 Yiwen ur iţwaqqen akken iţwaqqen.
26 and (Wa) none (Laa Ahadu) will be chained (Yuuthiqu) as his chaining (Wathaaqa-hu) .
89:27

27 A yiman illan di laman,
27 “O you (Yaa Ayyatuha) the assured (El'Mut'mainna') soul (En'Naf'su) ,

28 uɣal ar Mass ik, d amṛaḍi ṛuḍan!
28 return (Er'jiee) to (ilaa) your LORD (Rabbi-ki), pleased (Raadiyatan) in satisfaction (Mar'diyyat') ,

29 Ekcem ger imdanen iW!
29 and (Fa) enter (Ed'khulii) into (Fii) MY servants (Ebaadii)
89:30

30 Ekcem di Loennet iW!
30 and (Wa) enter (Ed'khulii) MY garden (Jannatii) .”
