The House and Bakkah
roots b-k-k, b-y-t · 3:96, 2:125, 14:37
S wawal awezlan
The Quran names Bakkah once (3:96) and never locates it by region. What the text fixes is the character of the place: a house set up for people, in a valley without cultivation, that people return to. The proposed identification with Tipaza is a grade C interpretation; four dated 7th-century external sources stand against it and are recorded below.
Bakkah is a place name that appears once in the Quran, in 3:96, as the site of "the first House set up for people".1 The text gives it no region, coordinates or country.1 What it does fix is the character of the place: a House that people return to, in a valley without cultivation, provided for from elsewhere.2 Its identification with any modern site is an interpretation; this page records one such interpretation, Tipaza in Algeria, at grade D, together with the dated sources that stand against it.3
In the text
A
The name occurs in 3:96 only.1 The root ب-ك-ك has no other occurrence, so the text offers no internal gloss.1 The House itself is described elsewhere without the name: 14:37 asks for provision in a valley without cultivation, 28:57 speaks of a secure sanctuary to which fruits are brought, and Surah 106 describes a people fed and kept safe.2 Read together, these verses describe a place that cannot feed itself and is supplied by travel.2
Proposed site: Tipaza
D
The community's interpretation places the House at the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania near Tipaza, on the Algerian coast.3 The structure exists and is documented; its image on this page is verified at grade B.3 The step from the verses to this structure is reasoning, and is graded D accordingly.3 What would raise it: a dated document or an inscription naming the site in connection with the House.
Evidence against
Four dated seventh-century external sources place the early community in Arabia; Sebeos is the earliest and is listed in the references. They are grade C: dated, with known authors, but external to the text. They remain the main unanswered objection and are recorded here so that the page states the case against itself.

14:37 asks that people be provided for in a valley without cultivation; 28:57 and Surah 106 describe the fulfilment as goods flowing in. The request is provisioning, not farming.

Interpretation: the House at Bakkah is the structure at Tipaza, Algeria. Rests on findings 1–2 and on the mausoleum's site history (grade B). Counter-evidence recorded in the tested section.
The result depends on the Greenwich meridian and retrodicts rather than predicts; the same battery fits the Tipaza mausoleum and the Kaaba equally. Recorded as a failed test.

Old-map readings placing Bakkah in the Maghreb.
The maps post-date the text by centuries and the labels were found to be modern annotations. Four dated 7th-century sources placing the early community in Arabia remain the main unanswered falsifier.
