El texto dice, más o menos: “La Meca. En esta ciudad se encuentra el arca [ataúd] de Mafumet, profeta de los sarrayns, que vienen aquí en peregrinación desde todas sus tierras… y después de haber visto algo tan precioso, dicen que no son dignos de ver más, y se ciegan por reverencia a Mafumet”.
Dos errores en el mapa:
- La tumba del Profeta está en Medina, no en La Meca.
- La historia de la ceguera es una leyenda europea.
El panel te muestra lo que los cristianos de Mallorca creían en 1375, no cómo era La Meca en realidad.
